"Going to Carolina"

Not just in my mind! We're here! By 100+ miles! We're tied up at Jarrett Bay boatyard, just north of Beaufort, north Carolina. We started with a slightly lumpier morning, cruising the Albemarle sound. Then down the infamous Alligator River. We crossed a few smaller rivers, cuts, and bays to make it here. 120 miles covered today, which is pretty good for a boat going 10-12 kts!

We woke up to a hatch. They looked like midges, but I'm no insectologist. "Bugs".

Captain Emily, crossing the Albemarle.

This is a censored photo. I was so proud of Maizey today. In the past, she's peed on the deck, when necessary. Today she went a step further. Use your imagination.

Another "cute" tug.

Feet up, enjoying the sunshine. Cruising the pungo-alligator canal.

Making good time down a canal. Tannin rich water here. Pretty fresh.

There's a special joy in seeing water this calm. It's like first tracks through "fresh pow."

The workin boats. Lowland, NC.

THAT. Right there. Is Spanish moss in the trees. The first we've seen on our way south.

"It's the house with the seahorse on it."

"Two doors down, my neighbor has a 6' tall dolphin on his house, what a goober!"

We found this while walking Maizey around the boat yard this evening.

We sure look small. But those under water lights look amaaaazzzziingggg!!

There's a soulfulness to North Carolina. It makes it feel like home, even though we haven't lived here in almost a decade. If you've never been, it's highly recommended.

But there are no boiled peanuts. So we'll keep moving!
